Once again, Saturday hath rolled around.

This week served as the hind-half of a trip with Evan. I flew up to Richmond last Wednesday, and met a lovely friend on the plane who was on her way home from visiting her boyfriend (who is in flight school in Pensacola). We bonded over this ridiculous family sitting behind us, who really had it out with a flight attendant named Wayne about their carseat and the airline allowing them to strap it into the airplane seat... The airline wouldn't allow them to use it because it was missing some kind of sticker that meant it was certified for airplane use. Wayne was a little flambuoyant, and to his credit, was very patient with them for a while...even after they threatened to call the news...(?) but after that while had passed, he got real snappy and told them that they would not be using the carseat, and that "that [was] really the end of the conversation." Yeah, Wayne was in a pretty rough mood for the rest of the flight...who can blame him? He stood with a scowl and folded arms for quite some time, while me and my plane friend chatted about boyfriends and high schools (she went to school in Ev's district) and such. I didn't catch her name, which I am still kicking myself about.

When I got into town, Ev-dawg took me to lunch, and to Big River (an advertising firm where his dad, Scott, works in digital advertising). Big River had purchased tickets to the Flying Squirrels game (Richmond's minor league), so the family and I enjoyed that treat (along with some fried pickles...)

Anyway, I was up there through Saturday morning. Highlights:

  1. Taking boyfriend out to Longhorn for an early celebration of his driver training and, AND his award as Chesterfield's Volunteer Firefighter of the Year!!!! (Okay, not sure if I'm allowed to mention the second one yet, but it's not like the Chief reads my blog anyway right?! Plus, I'm so excited! He was chosen as one of hundreds!)
  2. Seeing Brave.
  3. Making a yummy blackberry chicken recipe for dinner for the Ackermans on Friday, which was followed by game night :]
Ev drove us home on Saturday, through the Appalachain Mountains. We missed the mark a little bit on our departure time so by the time we were really IN the mountains, it was dark..but still, it was beautiful. We got in around 2:00 Sunday morning, and he stayed with us in Kennesaw till this past Wednesday, on which day there were many tears shed. Sigh.

Next stop: Grandma and Grandpa arrive! They got in on Wednesday about an hour and a half after Evan left for home. So far, we have done lots of chillin' but, as you all must know...I'm a big fan of chillin'.

Other notes for the week:
  1. Amelie turned two on Monday. (An event to which the word "fun" applies both literally and sarcastically.)
  2. Abbie came home from Canada yayyy! Then went to Utah.
  3. Dad's birthday is tomorrow...47. Gulp.
I think that's about it. Consider yourself updated.
